Welcome to the fascinating world of Anthropology! This dynamic field of study consists of everything that has to do with humans, past and present. Anthropology is often considered a four- field approach including cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, archaeology and linguistics.
Cultural Anthropology concentrates on all the shared and learned traditions of human life. Biological Anthropology focuses on the biological aspects of humans from an evolutionary perspective. Linguistics considers the role and use of language in human populations. Archaeology investigates past human societies. With the human experience being so diverse, Anthropology allows for a multi-faceted, bio-cultural investigation to the human condition.
At Ventura College, Anthropology courses provide students with a range of opportunities to fulfill transfer and general education requirements, along with preparation for the Anthropology major.
